JOB NO. 8002/1014
SUBCONTRACTOR: ROAD RUNNER ELECTRIC
EMPLOYEES: Julian Raya & Duque Avigair

Julian and Duque were installing cable trays overhead in a tight space with foot traffic below. They had all the required PPE on, i.e. hard hats, eye protection, fall protection, and kept their attention on the other personnel walking under or near the installation operation … stopping the foot traffic when they were installing the cable trays overhead.

GOOD JOB Julian andDuque! …

PROJECT: RUSH – LINK JOB NO. RL7001 – REPLACE TRANSFORMERS, (URS Contract No. KCC0000007), KSC
SUBCONTRACTOR: NEW ENERGY SERVICES, INC
EMPLOYEES: Tony Spera and James “Jimbo” Stansell

Last night we went into an outage at LES facility. USA fed the MCC by generator to back up the LES. The way they backed it up allowed parts of the gear to remain hot, with hot busses approximately 6 inches from machinery we need to work on. Tony Spera and Jimbo Stansell immediately caught it this morning before any work started and advised me there was a hazard. The URS Inspector was called and as a result, USA will re-feed tonight in a way that will ensure all of the gear is de-energized and our personnel are safe.

GOOD JOB TONY andJIMBO STANSELL! …

Feliciano has been with the RUSH – PEAK Team at the Homestead for a while now, and he continues to help keep the project site clean and safe for all personnel on the site. CONTRACT NO. – W91278-09-C-0072
SUBCONTRACTOR: Architectural Sheet Metal
EMPLOYEE: BARRY “GEORGE” BISHOP

While lifting the gutter to the roof using ladders, George noticed his ladder was on a slight incline in sandy soil. Rather than chance falling, he stopped the work until he got a fellow employee to hold the ladder steady while he climbed, and had the employee remain until he finished the work on the ladder.

Great example of sizing up a job and thinking about what could go wrong. Ironically, this occurred shortly after our weekly toolbox meeting where the topic was roofing safety…

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA – Site work has begun on Exploration Park, the high-tech research and office park being developed by The Pizzuti Companies in partnership with Space Florida.

Tom Harmer, senior vice president for The Pizzuti Companies, said the initial work includes clearing the site, transporting fill dirt and initial site grading. Work on this phase of the project is expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete, Harmer said.

“We are thrilled to see the park making progress and look forward to showcasing this unique offering to customers,” noted Space Florida President Frank DiBello.

“We’re excited to begin this portion of the project and to take the next steps toward creating a world-class office and technology park,” Harmer said. “We are actively engaged in discussions with a number of potential tenants as we prepare the site for the start of vertical construction.”

Pizzuti is serving as Master Developer of Exploration Park in a public/private partnership with Space Florida, the State’s aerospace economic development organization. Civil engineering services are being provided by Jones Edmunds and Titusville-based RUSH Construction is the project’s general contractor.

The fill dirt being used to develop the first phase of the Park has been donated by Port Canaveral as part of a cooperative agreement between Space Florida and the Port.

Exploration Park’s initial 60-acre phase, located just outside the security gates at Kennedy Space Center, will accommodate approximately 350,000 square feet in up to nine separate LEED-certified buildings, expected to include educational, office, research/lab space and flexible high-bay facilities. A second 139-acre phase has also been identified.
