KSC – Water and Wastewater Systems

Upgrade KSC Water and Wastewater Systems, Phase 2

This project will upgrade several components of the outdated water and wastewater systems at KSC. These upgrades include replacing and improving four lift stations in the Industrial and LC39 areas, and installing new gate valves along the 24-inch water main, which runs along Kennedy Parkway. The project also will provide for improved monitoring of the center’s water consumption and water quality, through installation of water meters at various facilities throughout KSC and installation of a chemical analyzer at the W1 pump station, located on State Road 3 south of Gate 2.

This is the second phase of a five-part effort to improve the quality of water while reducing our water consumption at KSC. Construction currently is 50 percent complete, and is scheduled to be completed during the summer of 2011. This will be followed by Phase 3 upgrades, which will begin sometime in the summer of 2011 as well. To maintain a safe work environment, the construction areas are off limits to non-essential personnel. Please use caution and drive safely near construction zones.
