RUSH-LINK (Joint Venture) completed the 920th Life Support Bldg. 624 HVAC Renovation project in May 2012. Renovation work activities included the removal of three (3) existing constant volume DX air handling units and condensers, eleven (11) variable air volume boxes, two (2) main distribution power panels, and one (1) 112.5 kVA pad mounted transformer. A new single chilled water air handling unit with a VFD controller was installed to service the existing zones. In addition, a packaged air cooled chiller, pumps, twelve (12) new variable air volume boxes with electric heat, and a new fully integrated controls system. Electrical upgrades included two (2) new main distribution panels with additional capacity and one (1) 225 kVA pad mounted transformer.
All contractual work was performed around ongoing customer operations. All outages electrical and HVAC outages had to be supported by temporary measures to ensure that the existing facility remained fully operational at all times. The schedule was condensed into a 10 week performance period to minimize the impact to the occupants in the facility. This project was completed on schedule and to the owner’s satisfaction.
