RUSH Construction Green Building – LEED

RUSH first became involved with the LEED® Green Building Rating System and facilities while acting as the design-build contractor on the DEOMI facility, a $15.9 million, design-build project at Patrick AFB, Florida. While this project was not required to be LEED® certified, it was designed and constructed with LEED® principles, requirements and constraints.

RUSH Construction, Inc. was also named a Certified Green Contractor by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). ABC’s Green Contractor Certification program recognizes construction companies that implement green practices and principles in the workplace, including headquarters, branch offices and job site office complexes.

Our second involvement with a LEED^® project involved the construction of the KSC Commissary Warehouse for Delaware North at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC). Another LEED project for NASA is The Life Support Facility located at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Valued at $5.4 million, this project encompasses 22,000 square feet and was certified at a Silver level by the USGBC.

As part of their overall efforts in the area of Green Building, RUSH attempts to be conscious of environmental issues related to our project sites. We are proud to have the distinction of having received NASA’s first ever Environmental Recognition Award.

In 2013, RUSH was named an ABC Certified Green Contractor. Currently, RUSH has two LEED® Accredited Professionals on staff. We area regular attendee at the annual Green Build International conference in order to further our understanding and knowledge of sustainable design and construction.
