About the YMCA of Central Florida
The YMCA of Central Florida is dedicated to keeping the local community healthy through encouraging members to create and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The organization’s main purpose is to improve the lives of those residing in Central Florida by connecting individuals and families with opportunities based on Christian values that deliver positive change.
It’s much more enjoyable to spend time swimming, playing sports, working out, taking exercise classes with friends, or just hanging out in our family center than spending time and money at a doctor’s office, said Titusville YMCA Executive Director, Billy Specht, in Space Coast Business. “Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive,” said Specht.
Each of the 27 unique YMCA locations provides various programs that reflect and serve the needs of its individual community. Programs offered include: summer camps, school programs, group exercise, diabetes prevention programs, swim lessons, sports and recreation, health and wellness events, Safe Start swimming for infants, and more.
RUSH Construction has partnered with the YMCA of Central Florida on 10 different projects since 2001.
RUSH Construction Inc., builder of the Titusville YMCA location, has been a major contributor to the YMCA of Central Florida, sponsoring events like the Titusville YMCA Golf Tournament, which benefits the annual Scholarship Fund. RUSH has been the Title Sponsor of this event for the past nine years.
For the past 13 years, William Chivers, President of RUSH, has served on the Titusville YMCA Family Center’s Board, as well as on their Executive Board, including a period serving as Board Chair (2009-2012).
