Mid-Course Radar Facility Phase II & Phase III, Kennedy Space Center, Florida

The Mid-Course Radar Facility was built to support the installation of a new Radar system utilized in the tracking of launch vehicles. The Console, Power, Transmitter and Communications buildings were constructed in Phase II to support the operation of the new system. This $4.4 million dollar project includes a 5,200 square foot Operations Building that houses the equipment previously installed in the Console, Power and Communications Buildings, which were constructed in Phase II. RUSH also constructed a three-foot thick by twelve-foot tall foundation for the new radome, which covers the entire radar system. Phase III included removal of the Power and Communication buildings, demolition of the Console Building foundation as well as the erection of two new masonry structures to be used as storage buildings. Site work included drilling a new water well and installing a sanitary sewer system and drain field with construction of a new parking lot.
